Ortodonti Tedavisi

Why shouldn't you stay late for Orthodontics?

Orthodontics is the dentistry branch that focuses on fixing the uneven bite, crookness and gaps in the teeth. It is easier to apply to patients of earlier age.

Orthodontics is the dentistry branch that focuses on fixing the uneven bite, crookness and gaps in the teeth. The patients may require this because of faster than usual development, genetic factors, finger sucking, usage of feeding bottle for a long time etc.

Children who are born with a cleft palate/lips should be taken to an Orthodontist who knows the subject well to be evaluated. A special palate must be created for the child to use from as early as the first breastfeedings.

When should the first Orthodontic evaluation be done?

Orthodontic treatment at the early age should be done not only because of esthetic problems but most importantly to fix other problems that will occur such as talking disabilities, inhaling problems, sleep disorders, mental problems etc. Children that goes to school will start developing psychological problems in the social environment. Children will be unable to pronounce some letters and will feel insecure about it and this may even lead to problems about their education since they may isolate themselves.

If the teeth stays crooked for a long time then food will start accumulating in the crevices and will lead to bad oral hygiene and carries on the teeth, this may lead to fear of dentists in the child because they will feel pain with the carries and will need to go to a dentist to get it fixed.

If the treatment is postponed for a time, the crooked teeth will be even more crooked and the palate and jaw will be affected with the development stage and the treatment will be harder to achieve and rarely even may lead to the need of some operations. If the jaw bone develops unevenly it is very unhealthy for a person since it will even affect their speech further and affect their breathing patterns, this may require a surgery upon the jaw by help of an esthetic surgeon.
